Emergency Dental Support
SE, Portland, OR

Emergency Dental Support - SE Portland, OR Dr. Matz understands that the very nature of an emergency is pain. Whether, that is personal pain or emotional pain from the dental situation. We do our best to see emergency dental cases immediately. If you experience intense bleeding or your emergency extends beyond dental care, please go to the nearest emergency room for assistance.

Knocked Out Tooth

Rinse the tooth gently under water to remove debris. Place the tooth into the socket it fell from and hold it in place until you get to our office. Otherwise, put the tooth into a container of milk and bring it to the office with you and we'll place the tooth back in it's socket.

Swollen Gum or Cheek

This can be a moderate to severe infection or trauma. It's important to keep a cold compress on the external part of the face near the affected area. Call the office immediately and if it is after hours, an emergency phone number is available to contact Dr. Matz.

Broken Tooth

This can be a sharp edge irritating your tongue or cheek to severe fracture below the gum line, or into the tooth's nerve. Placing some canning wax, or like product, for minor break will help until seen at the office. Fractures into the nerve or below the gum line necessitate care quickly at the dental office.

Severe Toothache

This could be a cavity that has infected the tooth's nerve or caused death of that nerve. A person with high stress for multiple days can experience severe teeth and or jaw pain. A gum abscess associated with a tooth can inflict severe pain also. Any time pain is severe call the office as soon as possible for an appointment.

Cosmetic Emergency

Sometimes a front tooth breaks and is mildly painful, yet aesthetically a tragedy. The only care for this is an appointment to repair the tooth or teeth as soon as possible to restore your smile.

If there is any doubt whether a situation is an emergency, call us at (503) 465-4848 for an opinion.
