Types of Sedation
Nitrous OxideCommonly known as laughing gas provides a lighter sedation for mild to moderate anxious patients. It is effective with in five minutes after breathing the gas. It induces a relaxing, euphoric feeling and distresses those anxious concerns.
Oral SedationThis uses pills taken orally an hour prior to dental treatment. Oral sedation is useful for a moderate to severely anxious patient. You are awake but quite relaxed and doze off and on during the treatment. It has good amnesic effects leading to no to very few memories of dental procedures.
IV SedationAppropriate for those patients who have been severely traumatized in the past. This IV sedation is very effective for those people difficult to numb or stay numb.
